PUBG Mobile earnings soar $3 billion

PUBG Mobile by Tencent recently doubled its lifetime revenue to $3 Billion in just a period of over seven months. This battle-royale game is very famous across the globe with a very high amount of users. 


According to the reports from a research firm SensorTower, this successful achievement was attained through the collective revenue collected from the global version of this game and its Chinese counterpart known as “Game for Peace”.

The game has earned $1.2 Billion in 2020 alone. This amount was also a collective of the two versions. The peak revenue was at a record high of $270 Million in the month of March, which was amid the lockdown imposed in many countries due to the Pandemic

PUBG Mobile earned almost four times more than any other mobile shooter game title in the first half of 2020. Other titles such as Free Fire and Call of Duty: Mobile earned around $300 Million in comparison.

The Chinese counterpart “Game for Peace” earned the maximum revenue of about $1.6 Billion from their lifetime player spending on China’s App store which contributes to 52% of their lifetime earnings, according to SensorTower analytics.  China is followed by USA which contributes 14% and Japan with 5.3% of the total revenue.

The game has a very high player base. India ranks first for app downloads, with 175 Million (24%) installs till date, followed by China (16.7%) and USA( 6.4%).

iPhone users are most generous when it comes to spending in this game. 79% of the total revenue generated was from Apple’s app store and remaining was from Google Play Store, which is from android device users. This is opposite to the accounts where 65% of installs were made from Play Store and only 35% from App Store.
